Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 15, 2025
1. Introduction
At IDEX Wallet, we believe privacy is not a feature – it is a fundamental right. Our mission is to empower users to interact with decentralized financial systems securely, transparently, and privately. This Privacy Policy describes the types of data we collect, how that data is used and safeguarded, and the principles we follow to keep your information secure.
Because IDEX Wallet operates as a non-custodial, decentralized interface, we do not hold or manage user funds, private keys, or personal identifiers. You remain in full control of your data, and interactions with blockchain networks are executed directly from your device without any intermediary access.
By accessing or using IDEX Wallet – whether through desktop, mobile, or web – you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the practices described herein.
Our privacy philosophy rests on four core principles:
- Minimal Data Collection: We only collect the minimum amount of data required to provide essential wallet functionality and improve user experience.
- Local Ownership: Private keys and sensitive data never leave your device – they are encrypted and managed exclusively by you.
- Transparency: You always know what data is collected, how it is used, and when it is deleted.
- Security by Design: Every layer of IDEX Wallet – from network communication to analytics – is built with privacy and encryption as default settings.
This Privacy Policy applies to all products, services, and digital assets offered through IDEX Wallet, including wallet management, trading tools, staking, and integrations with decentralized protocols.
2. Information We Collect
IDEX Wallet is designed around privacy-first architecture – meaning that we collect only the minimum amount of information required for the platform to operate securely and efficiently. The wallet does not profile users, store personal identifiers, or retain unnecessary logs. All collected data serves specific technical or operational purposes that allow the app to function properly while maintaining your anonymity.
The information we handle generally falls into three categories: data you voluntarily provide, data automatically collected for technical operation, and public blockchain data that is inherently visible on decentralized networks.
2.1 Information You Provide
Some interactions within IDEX Wallet involve voluntary data submission. These are always optional and limited to cases where you actively choose to engage – such as subscribing to updates, contacting support, or participating in feedback programs. The goal of such data collection is not to identify you but to maintain communication and improve service functionality.
When users provide input or contact us, we may process the following information:
- Wallet Metadata – Your public wallet addresses, token lists, and blockchain identifiers used to render your balance, transaction history, or staking data.
- Contact Information – Email addresses or aliases used for newsletters, system notifications, or early-access features.
- Support Correspondence – Any messages or attachments shared through support tickets, including screenshots or transaction references provided voluntarily.
- Feedback and Testing Data – Comments, survey responses, or participation in beta programs that help guide improvements and feature stability.
All sensitive wallet operations – including transaction signing, key management, and authorization – happen entirely on your local device. IDEX Wallet never requests or stores private keys, passwords, or seed phrases, and there is no mechanism for us to retrieve them. Your cryptographic credentials remain yours alone, secured under your custody at all times.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
To maintain a stable and performant user experience, the application automatically collects limited technical information during use. This data is non-identifiable, meaning it cannot be traced to a specific person or wallet. It exists only to ensure compatibility, detect issues, and measure performance across environments.
This category may include:
- Device Data – Browser version, operating system type, screen size, and general hardware identifiers to optimize layout and interface behavior.
- Network Information – Temporary IP and region data, often anonymized, used solely for load balancing, caching, and localization preferences.
- Usage Metrics – General statistics such as navigation patterns, session duration, and the frequency of feature interactions.
- Performance Logs – Reports on latency, failed requests, or app crashes, which help engineers troubleshoot service reliability.
- Transaction Metadata – Technical records like hashes, block numbers, and smart contract calls required to verify transactions on-chain.
This data helps us understand whether features are working as intended and identify performance or compatibility issues across different systems. It is not retained indefinitely – logs are either anonymized or automatically purged within short retention cycles, typically 30–90 days depending on infrastructure needs. No behavioral tracking or third-party analytics are ever embedded in the wallet client.
2.3 Blockchain Data
Every transaction executed through IDEX Wallet interacts directly with a public blockchain network. As a result, certain details about your transactions become permanently recorded on-chain and visible to anyone inspecting that ledger. This is an inherent property of decentralized systems and cannot be modified or deleted by any participant, including IDEX Wallet.
Publicly available blockchain data typically includes:
- Wallet and contract addresses involved in a transaction.
- Token amounts, gas fees, and related values.
- Block numbers, timestamps, and transaction hashes.
- Contract interactions and smart function parameters.
While this transparency enhances trust and verifiability, it also means that your activity on the blockchain is public by design. We encourage users to maintain separation between personal identifiers (such as names or emails) and wallet addresses to preserve on-chain privacy.
IDEX Wallet does not aggregate or analyze blockchain history for behavioral profiling – all displayed data is fetched directly and transiently from the chain.
3. How We Use Your Information
IDEX Wallet processes only the minimum information necessary to provide a secure, reliable, and user-controlled experience. Every piece of data collected serves a functional purpose – to help the wallet operate correctly, improve performance, and maintain network integrity. No information is ever used for advertising, tracking, or profiling. Because IDEX is fully non-custodial, your assets, keys, and identity always remain under your control, and no one – including us – can access or exploit that data.
3.1 Core Functional Purposes
The primary goal of any data processing inside IDEX Wallet is to make sure that essential features work as expected and that the environment remains technically sound. This includes the synchronization of account data, ensuring smooth cross-chain communication, and maintaining consistent transaction reliability. Each technical process is built around transparency – every request is triggered by the user, and no background operations act on your behalf.
To achieve this, the system may handle certain technical parameters related to how you use the wallet. For example, it must identify which network is active, whether your balance is correctly displayed, and if transactions have completed successfully. These processes rely on short-lived metadata, never on personal or identifying details. Communication logs or feedback data are used only to respond to support queries or to provide security notifications when necessary.
Examples of functional purposes include:
- Processing and verifying blockchain transactions you initiate.
- Checking connection status between your wallet and supported networks.
- Displaying balances, staking information, and token activity.
- Detecting network congestion or potential transaction errors.
- Maintaining a reliable environment across all supported blockchains.
All collected data remains anonymous and is automatically cleared or anonymized after serving its technical purpose. Nothing is tied to a personal profile or wallet identity.
3.2 Improving Platform Experience
To deliver a faster, cleaner, and more predictable user experience, IDEX Wallet sometimes analyzes anonymized usage patterns. This is never personal data – it’s system telemetry that helps engineers understand how the wallet performs under real conditions. The purpose is purely technical: identifying performance bottlenecks, improving transaction flows, and refining user interfaces so they remain intuitive and efficient.
Such analytical information may involve metrics like feature load times, app responsiveness, or the frequency of certain actions (for instance, staking or swapping). From this, we can determine which functions are used most often, where latency occurs, and how updates affect user interaction across devices and browsers.
Typical improvement goals include:
- Reducing gas estimation errors and transaction delays.
- Enhancing multi-chain connection stability.
- Testing new UI layouts for accessibility and clarity.
- Monitoring feature reliability during network updates.
- Optimizing caching and local data storage for better performance.
These processes never include private data, wallet contents, or on-chain identifiers. All analytics are aggregate-only and stripped of any connection to a specific user, address, or device.
3.3 Legal, Compliance, and Safety
Even in a decentralized framework, maintaining operational safety and compliance with global security standards is essential. IDEX Wallet uses limited metadata to identify potential abuse or malicious activity that could affect the network or its users. This is not surveillance – it’s preventive protection built into the infrastructure to keep the environment safe for everyone.
When suspicious activity is detected – such as automated attacks, phishing attempts, or repeated contract exploits – only non-personal technical information is reviewed. We do not request identification documents or perform traditional KYC. Instead, automated systems rely on on-chain heuristics and behavioral analysis, meaning that verification happens through blockchain signals rather than private data.
In rare cases, minimal technical data may be disclosed to comply with legitimate regulatory or law enforcement inquiries. However, such disclosure never includes private keys, wallet balances, or personal correspondence. The information shared is limited to metadata such as timestamps, transaction hashes, or public blockchain data that is already visible on-chain.
By limiting data exposure to these narrowly defined cases, IDEX Wallet ensures that compliance and security coexist with user autonomy – preserving the decentralized nature of the platform while protecting every participant from exploitation or misuse.
4. Data Security and Protection
Security is one of the central principles of IDEX Wallet. Since the platform is fully non-custodial, users maintain complete control over their digital assets, and no third party – including IDEX itself – has access to their private keys or wallet contents. Our security model is designed around zero-access architecture, strong encryption, and local data control to ensure that every interaction remains private and verifiable.
All communication between your wallet and IDEX infrastructure is protected with modern encryption protocols such as TLS 1.3 and forward secrecy standards. Sensitive wallet data, including private keys and seed phrases, is stored exclusively on your device and never leaves it. Every transaction is signed locally before being broadcast to the blockchain, meaning no server or intermediary can modify, intercept, or replicate your actions.
To protect users across multiple environments, IDEX Wallet incorporates a layered security approach that includes both network-level and device-level protection.
We recommend following these best practices to maintain wallet integrity:
- Keep your operating system, wallet app, and browser extensions up to date.
- Use hardware wallets or trusted key storage whenever possible.
- Store recovery phrases offline and in a secure physical location.
- Verify smart contract sources before signing transactions.
- Avoid connecting your wallet to unverified or unknown decentralized applications.
These steps greatly reduce the risk of phishing, malware, and unauthorized access, complementing the safeguards already built into the IDEX ecosystem.
IDEX Wallet retains only minimal, anonymized technical logs required for service stability and diagnostics. These logs are periodically purged – typically within 30 to 90 days – unless temporarily needed for performance monitoring or legitimate security analysis. The platform never stores wallet balances, private transaction details, or behavioral profiles.
Users maintain full control over what is stored locally. Cache data can be cleared from the app or browser at any time, and optional analytics can be disabled through settings. Every security mechanism is transparent by design, giving you complete visibility into what data is used and how it contributes to a safer experience.
Our goal is simple: you remain the only authority over your funds, keys, and data – IDEX merely provides the tools to keep that control secure.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
IDEX Wallet operates on a strict principle of data minimalism and user privacy. The platform does not sell, rent, or trade any personal information for marketing or commercial gain. Any data exchange that occurs is solely for technical maintenance, regulatory compliance, or security assurance – never for profiling or advertising.
We do not store or have access to your private keys, passwords, or seed phrases. All sensitive information remains encrypted and stored locally on your device. When limited data is shared, it is always non-identifiable and handled by trusted infrastructure partners operating under confidentiality and security obligations.
We may share limited technical information only in the following scenarios:
- Service Providers. With verified partners who help maintain core systems such as hosting, content delivery, analytics, or performance monitoring. Shared data is limited to technical logs or anonymized metrics required to ensure uptime and system reliability.
- Legal Compliance. When required by a valid court order or government regulation, only the minimum necessary metadata may be disclosed. IDEX Wallet does not hold user funds or personal records, so no sensitive wallet data can be shared.
- Security and Abuse Prevention. Certain technical logs may be reviewed to detect and prevent malicious activity, DDoS attacks, or system misuse. This data is used exclusively for network protection.
- Business Continuity. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring, only anonymized operational data such as performance metrics or aggregated analytics may be transferred. User control over assets and private keys remains unaffected.
IDEX Wallet never shares wallet information, transaction details, or identifiable personal data with external parties. Every integration and third-party interaction is reviewed for compliance with internal privacy standards and the platform’s security framework.
Our approach to data sharing is grounded in a simple principle – functionality should never come at the cost of privacy. Every decision about information exchange exists to maintain a secure, transparent, and decentralized user experience.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Like most modern applications, IDEX Wallet uses a small number of cookies and related tracking technologies to ensure smooth functionality and improve overall experience. However, our approach is privacy-first – every data point collected serves a clear technical purpose, not behavioral profiling or ad targeting.
Cookies are lightweight data files stored on your device that help the app remember certain preferences or maintain secure sessions. For example, they allow us to keep your interface language, remember your last-used network (Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, etc.), or maintain your connection status while you browse between pages. These cookies are essential for seamless use of the wallet – disabling them may disrupt normal operation or require frequent reconnections.
We may also use analytics technologies to better understand how users interact with IDEX Wallet’s features – for instance, how quickly a dashboard loads or which browser versions experience performance drops. This helps us detect issues early, improve responsiveness, and design a smoother UI. All such analytics are aggregated and anonymized – no tracking across sites, and no linkage to individual wallets or identities.
Some cookies are temporary (“session cookies”) and automatically deleted when you close the browser or app, while others persist for a limited time (“persistent cookies”) to store your preferences or improve loading speed. You may manage or clear these cookies directly from your browser or operating system settings.
IDEX Wallet may use local storage for caching blockchain data, transaction history, or UI preferences directly on your device. This local cache never leaves your system and can be cleared at any time without affecting your wallet or blockchain assets.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or social media trackers. All technologies implemented by IDEX Wallet adhere to privacy-by-design principles – they exist to optimize performance and user experience, never to collect unnecessary data.
7. Your Privacy Rights
At IDEX Wallet, your privacy is not dependent on legal frameworks – it’s built directly into the technology itself. Because we operate on a non-custodial, decentralized architecture, you already control nearly all aspects of your personal data by default. Still, we respect and uphold the privacy rights recognized in global data protection standards, and we make sure every user can exercise control transparently and easily.
You have the right to access, manage, and remove the limited information associated with your use of IDEX Wallet. In most cases, this control is handled directly through your device and wallet – not through us. You can clear app cache, delete cookies, reset session data, or disconnect your wallet at any time. When you do, all local information related to your usage is permanently erased.
If you’ve shared optional contact details – such as an email for newsletters or support – you may request to access, correct, or delete that information by contacting our team. We honor such requests promptly and transparently, without requiring unnecessary verification steps.
Your specific rights may include:
- Access: You can request details about what limited information we temporarily process (for example, support communications or analytics logs).
- Correction: If any optional personal data (like an email address) is incorrect, you may ask to have it updated or removed.
- Deletion: You can request complete deletion of any voluntarily submitted personal information from our systems.
- Portability: Upon request, we can provide your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restriction and Objection: You may ask us to limit or stop processing certain non-essential data, such as analytics collection.
Because blockchain interactions are immutable, it’s important to understand that on-chain data (wallet addresses, transactions, and smart contract events) cannot be modified or deleted by any entity, including IDEX Wallet. However, your real-world identity remains fully detached from that on-chain activity unless you explicitly link it yourself.
8. International Data Transfers
Because IDEX Wallet serves a global user base, data from your device may interact with our distributed infrastructure across multiple regions. These data flows are designed for speed, reliability, and security – not centralization. We operate through a mix of decentralized systems, encrypted communication channels, and regionally distributed servers to ensure consistent performance regardless of where you connect from.
Your device connects automatically to the nearest secure node or gateway using geo-optimized routing. This process may involve temporary handling of technical information – such as IP address or network latency data – to determine the fastest connection path. None of this information identifies you personally, nor is it permanently stored. Once the connection is established, all subsequent communication is encrypted and session-based.
All international transfers occur under strict protection measures:
- End-to-End Encryption: Every packet of data transmitted between your device and IDEX Wallet’s backend infrastructure is encrypted with industry-standard protocols (TLS 1.3+).
- Minimal Retention: No personal or wallet-related data is permanently stored on centralized servers. Temporary cache data (for load balancing, performance, or diagnostics) is automatically deleted within short intervals.
- Decentralized Architecture: Critical wallet functions – such as key management, signing, and transaction execution – occur locally on your device or directly on the blockchain, ensuring no exposure to third-party jurisdictions.
- Regional Redundancy: Infrastructure is distributed globally (e.g., North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific) to reduce latency and maintain uptime during regional network interruptions.
If your information passes through or is processed in a country different from your own, it remains protected under the same security standards and internal safeguards. These include encryption, restricted access, and compliance with privacy frameworks equivalent to or exceeding those found in major global data protection laws.
IDEX Wallet’s design means your most sensitive information – private keys, wallet addresses, signing data – never leaves your control. The only “data transfer” that occurs beyond your device is encrypted metadata necessary for the app to function in real time.
Our infrastructure exists to connect blockchains – not to centralize user information.
9. Data Retention
IDEX Wallet is built to minimize data collection and long-term storage. The wallet does not keep user profiles, transaction histories, or personal records. All critical information – including private keys and seed phrases – stays only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
Some limited technical data may be stored temporarily to maintain service stability. This can include short-term cache, connection logs, or performance metrics. These records are automatically deleted after short retention periods once they are no longer needed for diagnostics or load balancing.
For users who choose to contact support, basic communication details (such as email and message history) may be retained only as long as necessary to resolve the issue. After that, support tickets are archived or deleted according to standard data cleanup cycles.
Blockchain data – such as transaction hashes, wallet addresses, or staking actions – is permanently recorded on public ledgers. This information cannot be deleted or altered, as it forms part of the transparent and verifiable nature of decentralized systems.
IDEX Wallet keeps no centralized database of users or balances. The platform’s design ensures that sensitive data never leaves your custody and any technical traces are removed automatically after use.
10. Third-Party Services
IDEX Wallet can interact with a variety of third-party platforms that provide complementary blockchain features. These include network explorers, analytics dashboards, price oracles, bridge services, and decentralized applications that extend wallet functionality. When you access or use these integrations, your activity may be governed by the privacy policies and terms of those independent providers.
Some examples include:
- Price and market data providers that display token values, historical charts, or network statistics.
- Blockchain explorers that allow you to verify transactions and contract interactions.
- DeFi and staking protocols you may connect to for yield generation or governance participation.
- Support and analytics tools used for optional feedback forms or diagnostic reporting.
IDEX Wallet itself does not share or sell any user information to these services. Only the minimum data required for each connection is transmitted – usually your public wallet address, selected network, and the transaction call needed for the specific action. Your private keys, balances, or identity details remain fully under your control and never leave your device.
We carefully evaluate every integration to ensure it meets baseline security and transparency standards. However, because these external services operate independently on public networks, we cannot guarantee their data handling or reliability. When interacting with third-party platforms, users should:
- verify that the connected dApp or protocol is authentic and audited,
- review its privacy and smart-contract policies,
- and avoid granting unnecessary permissions beyond what is required for the intended action.
The wallet provides the interface layer and secure signing process – not direct custody or operational control over external platforms. You remain the final authority over each connection you initiate and the data you choose to share. By maintaining this separation, IDEX Wallet ensures that decentralized access remains flexible, transparent, and safe.
11. Changes to This Policy
Our Privacy Policy may evolve over time as IDEX Wallet continues to grow, introduce new technologies, and improve user security. Updates may be driven by product improvements, security research, or regulatory expectations that affect how data is handled in the blockchain ecosystem.
Whenever significant changes are made, the revised version of this policy will be posted on our official website with a clearly visible “Last Updated” date at the top. In some cases, we may also issue in-app or email notices if the modifications substantially affect your data use or rights.
We strongly encourage users to review this page periodically to remain informed about how their data is managed. Continued use of IDEX Wallet after updates take effect means that you agree to the revised terms. You are always free to stop using the wallet at any time if you do not agree with the updated policy.
The purpose of these updates is not to change the foundation of IDEX Wallet’s privacy principles – local key ownership, non-custodial operation, and user data minimalism remain constant. Any changes will simply reflect ongoing transparency, security best practices, and evolving technical standards within decentralized finance.
